The Healthy Lung Project

Harefield has a higher-than-average number of smokers and a significant number of undiagnosed patients. The healthyLungs project aims to improve early diagnosis, better management, reduced hospital admissions and reduce morbidity secondary to COPD.

The Healthy Lung Project has multiple stakeholders: LBH smoking cessation team, MyHealth, Harefield practice, NorthConnect PCN inequalities team, Harefield Hospital, Lung Cancer screening services and Cheisi. Services have now been developed locally to ensure prevention, early diagnosis and management.

National Obesity Awareness Week (10th-16th)

By promoting healthier lifestyles, better nutrition, and increased physical activity, we can work together to reduce obesity rates and support individuals in making positive, sustainable changes. We want to focus on promoting sustainable, healthy lifestyle changes. While it’s common to set ambitious goals at the start of the year in hopes of transforming our lives, these drastic changes can often be difficult to maintain, especially when they don’t fit into our daily routines. Instead, we encourage making small, realistic changes that can lead to long-term success and well-being.

Eating colourful foods offers numerous health benefits.

Each colour in fruits and vegetables represents different nutrients and antioxidants that are essential for maintaining good health. Instead of pushing people to eat less, lets encourage nutrient dense, fibre full and tasty foods that can improve their overall wellbeing (and consequently, may result in other healthy habits).

For example:

1.Red foods can help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.

2.Orange and yellow foods support immune function and eye health.

3.Green foods promote strong bones and detoxification.

4.Purple and blue foods can protect against inflammation and improve brain function.

Walking Groups

Getting outside, connecting with people and exercising, what more could you ask for! These three factors can significantly improve your overall wellbeing.

There are many walking groups across Hillingdon to get involved in. Click on the website links to find a walk near you!

Broken glass by the gym equipment on the green, Amanda who does the street cleaning does an amazing job keeping the village as clean as she can on her own & the significant area that she has to cover.

Medi Parc

Tina informed the meeting that when the diggers moved onto the Medi Parc site in October 2024 she wrote to Daniel Lord the Enforcement Officer at Hillingdon Council.  In a recent reply from the Enforcement Officer he informed her that “a recent site inspection established that the furrows have been filled in and there remains a large and smaller soil mounds …..”.

Unfortunately, the furrows have not been filled in and the mounds are covering up Japanese Knotweed that the owners would probably prefer to remain hidden. Therefore, she will be contacting the Enforcement Officer and sending photographs of the remaining furrows.

Sub committee to be set up by Tina to work on the Medi Parc issue
