Matters arising from the minutes
Action responses:
PD to speak with Cllr Palmer regarding the width of the road at the green by the doctors for safety reasons
PD emailed Cllr Palmer on 25th February & had no reply so followed up by email again on 7th March, I had a reply this morning from Cllr Tuckwell:
I am writing on behalf of Councillor Jane Palmer regarding your request about widening Rickmansworth Road outside the GP surgery. We do appreciate your concerns and the time you have taken.
As the Cabinet Member responsible for the highways department, I can confirm we will record your request. At present, widening is unlikely due to the cost, disruption, and the impact on the village’s character and parking. We will, however, keep the community updated with any future reviews.
I replied back to explain that we need suggestions as to what the council are going to do on this matter rather than simply parking it for a future discussion.
Cllr Tuckwell replied to advise:
Thank you for your follow-up email and for providing the residents’ detailed views.
I want to assure you that your request and the residents’ concerns will be raised at my next briefing with senior Highways officers. While I can’t make any firm commitments at this stage, I will ensure it is formally considered.
Thank you again for staying engaged and for your dedication to the village.
Action- Helen Conchar mentioned at the last meeting about changing banks due to the fact that we are charged a monthly fee & we want to switch to an account that gives us free banking & only charges us for each transaction. Helen is investigating banking options and will revert back in due course.
Chairmans Comments
Next full cabinet councillors meeting in June, after the local elections, Jane Palmer, Martin Goddard & Keith Burrows were not present at the last meeting in February.
GB covered off the council tax increases by an average of 4.5% to £2,300 per year, each household in Hillingdon will have an extra £1400 per household debt to cover this £150mn loan over 20 years
GB also reported that there is some £111mn of unpaid council tax & there are no plans in place at this time to recover this debt
HARA (Hillingdon Alliance of Residents Associations) https://www.hillingdonresidents.org.uk/ was also in attendance at the council meeting which have been extracting information on the council’s activities and posting to the Ruislip Residents Association https://www.ruislipresidents.org.uk/ our plan is to pull this information and put it into our new HTRA Facebook page which GB talked about.
The new Facebook page will be for information purposes only and will not be a posting board for people to comment on, if anyone has any comments about matters in the village or the borough you can still email us on enquiries@harefieldresidents.org.uk
There was a news item on GB News on the passing of the Iranian Ayatollah where Hujjat made a condolence message. KSIMC need an extra £2.5mn by June or COOP bank will not restructure their loan.

WF lent Hujjat Harefield £9mn to support their plans for growth, GB also mentioned he has written to the charities commission & the COOP to highlight the legitimacy of the funds & where they originate from.

We are now consulting on our proposal to build a new modern cancer centre on the Watford General Hospital site, with outreach services into local hospitals, to replace the current Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood.
These proposals have been based on clinical need, quality of care, patient safety, and travel time and access analysis, and developed in collaboration with patients and staff. They will enable people living across Hertfordshire, and parts of Bedfordshire, north west and north central London, East Berkshire and Buckinghamshire to have the latest cancer treatments with onsite supporting services.
The relocation of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre has been identified as a national priority and would happen as soon as the money to build the new centre has been allocated but would still take several years to complete.
We want to make a permanent change to the location of the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre – moving specialised cancer services to a purpose-built new centre on an acute (main) hospital site (Watford General Hospital).
- Without an additional separate networked radiotherapy facility,
- With an additional radiotherapy facility at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, or
- With an additional radiotherapy facility at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital in Luton
The Main Centre
The new cancer centre at Watford would provide the full range of specialist cancer treatments and research expected of a non-surgical specialist cancer centre.
Staff and patients would have direct access to services like critical care and medical support that is not available now.
Haematology
It would have a haematology unit providing specialist inpatient and outpatient haematology care.
Brachytherapy
It would have a brachytherapy theatre. Currently patients are transported to a local private hospital to access brachytherapy theatre facilities, and then back to MVCC.
Diagnostics
The services provided by Paul Strickland Scanner Centre would also move into the new centre.
Care Closer to Home
To support this, we also want to introduce options for care closer to home by increasing specialised cancer services in some other hospitals: For example:
Radiotherapy:
We want to shorten the longest journeys for radiotherapy treatment.
Anti-cancer treatments (including chemotherapy and immunotherapy):
We want to reduce the number of patients who have to have chemotherapy at the main centre.
Chemotherapy at home:
We want to increase the number of patients who can be trained to have chemotherapy at home.
Haematology:
We want to ensure that no patient has to travel past their nearest specialist cancer centre to receive treatment for haematology, unless it is absolutely necessary as part of a clinical trial or complex treatment.
Blood tests and minor procedures:
We want to ensure that no patient has to travel to the main cancer centre just to have a blood test.
Patient transport:
We want to work with our partners in local authorities and the voluntary sector to ensure that no patient misses out on treatment because it is too difficult to get to.
Police/Crime
IC advised that there is nothing to report on police matters, next Police Ward Panel meeting is tomorrow, 10th March so will have more to report on at the next public meeting.
Since January 2026 there have been 48 reported rapes in Hillingdon, crime overall has increased 12.94% in Hillingdon over the past year which is a real concern, the annual crime rate per 1000 people is recorded at 96.6.

Greenspaces & Environment
Sarah Green from the Gren Party addressed the residents & discussed how she has been studying the water quality of the Colne valley & Harefield tap water, Sarah said that we should not be alarmed & that our tap water is perfectly safe because it is not locally sourced from Blackford water source which was closed May 2021
Sarah has been In touch with Affinity water as there are chemicals found 90m deep which affects the water, Affinity Water will be charging customers more to treat this waste to take out the contaminants.
